1000 Things To Do Before You Die – #17, #25, & #38
Some of you are familiar with my Life List, but if you aren’t, I encourage you to take a peek. Basically, it’s a growing list of items I would like to accomplish before I die.
Quite a few of the things on the list have been covered here in previous blog posts, but there are a bunch that I did before I started this site, and I thought it might be interesting to cover them, a few at a time.
17. Play the slots in Las Vegas
Back in 2009, my best friend (Ronnie) and a couple of our other friends, all went down to Vegas for a few days to celebrate a birthday. Neither Ronnie nor I had ever been before, and neither of us are into gambling at all, but I wanted to play just to say I did, and because it’s one of the things you have to do while you are down there.
My flight got in before anyone else, so while I was waiting I put $15 or so into a nickel machine and entertained myself for the better part of an hour. I wish I could say I won some money, but as is so often the case, the machine happily took my money and all I got out of it was a free drink.
25. Feed a giraffe
I’ve always loved giraffes. They are one of my favorite animals, and I have a large number of photos of them on my computer from assorted trips to the zoo. Some summers back, we took the kids to the Calgary zoo, and as luck would have it, there was a line to feed the giraffes! Awesome! So the kids and I got in line, and waited our turn. The giraffe would stick out his tongue and grab a carrot from the fingers of the child, it was quite sweet. While I don’t have a photo of ME feeding it, I did get to, and it was fantastic.
38. See the water show at the Bellagio
No trip to Vegas would be complete without the Bellagio Water Show. I will let this video, which I took during my trip there in 2009, speak for itself.
